about

I was watching Trainspotting with my buddies one day in January when suddenly I got an interest in techno music. I was thinking about Aphex Twin and all the music he's made that I've never heard before. Like how does one guy make so many beats and have names for them all? So I got inspired to make my own techno-like music and I'm whipping them out too!

I see it as a continuation on the old Handheld Port project from 2013 that the Accoordinating to Plan EP from 2015 was also a part of. There were a few song titles from the project that never got attributed to a song until now. The first five tracks plus track 7 were made in three days with an expired Ableton Live 9 trial. Tracks 6 and 8 to 12 were made with an expired Ableton Live 10 trial later on in April. These song titles came from what was gonna be the second album Yarro after Aphex Twin's then-just released album Syro in 2014.

This would be cancelling out all previous albums I could potentially release this year, including 2 metal albums under the name Harvester of Death, and a second album under my name as well as a remixed version of my first album. I think the endless hours of working has taken a musically creative toll on me where I feel like I wouldn't have the free time to finish one of them, let alone actually write the songs.

I think Aphex Twin and I are similar. He started making electronic music in 1985 at 14 and I started making electronic music in 2013 at 16. Then he released his first album in 1992 at 21 and I'm gonna release my album this year at 22. And sometimes it takes me a couple years to finish a project, but I'm not a musical genius who can pump out music like it's nothing like him. I wouldn't even be able to listen to all the music he's released, let alone make as much with the same level of good quality. If I wanted to have an archive to pull from in the future, I would need to make a shit ton of tracks now.
