about

"A sound collage composition for the new age, but not a New Age composition for the sound collage, using audio editing software and modern techniques."

It's got all the elements of Kurt Cobain's "Montage of Heck", (which has increased in popularity lately) plus my own! But he isn't the only musician I listen to that has made a sound collage. There's Neil Cicierega's "Correctional Facility Food Sucks", John Lennon's "Revolution #9", etc. So mine needed a weird name too, except it means nothing. It's garbage; stream-of-consciousness, pulled from off of the top of my head, first thing that came to mind gibberish. And I'm proud of it. "Halogen" + "genetic" + "photogenic"? "Mélange" + "menagerie" + "lingerie"? The only problem I find with it is that most of the samples are from YouTube videos instead of songs like how most of these kind of songs are. This means that I can't just tell you what album a certain thing came from because I likely have no idea or it didn't even come from an album. Samples include the following:

Stuff from the radio:
The Conet Project: Recordings of Shortwave Numbers Stations
Kermit Schaefer - Pardon My Blooper (multiple volumes, excluding most silence, banter, and jokes I didn't think people would get)

Stuff from television:
80's channel flipping
The German version of "The Lumberjack Song" from the German version of Monty Python's Flying Circus
The infamous Max Headroom broadcast signal intrusion
The Clutch Cargo theme song
The infamous Southern Television broadcast signal interruption

This one thing from the Eraserhead soundtrack

This one thing from They Might Be Giants' Dial-A-Song

Random, obscure 60's and 70's American & British songs by those types of bands:
The Shaggs - Philosophy of My World
Penguin Cafe Orchestra - Harmonic Necklace
Cromagnon - Caledonia
Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band - Pena
The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band - Slush
Napoleon XIV - Marching Off to Bedlam
Zager and Evans - In the Year 2525 (Exordium and Terminus)
Screaming Lord Sutch - Flashing Light
H.P. Lovecraft - The White Ship

Spoken word recordings and sound effects I found on the internet:
The voice of Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone
Author James Joyce reading an excerpt of his novel Finnegan's Wake in an Irish accent
The infamous Howard Dean scream

Noise/ambient music that was originally really long, but is now truncated and sped-up without changing pitch:
Bull of Heaven - Even on the Edge of Doom
Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music, Part 1

Things that are exclusive to the short version that's in between 6 and 7 minutes long but aren't on the longer 30-something minute long version:
Radiohead - Dollars & Cents
The Beatles - You Never Give Me Your Money
My own singing

And many more!
